Paul Maxey is a transitional deacon for the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. He attended Southern Utah University where he received a degree as a registered nurse (RN-BSN). But more importantly to his walk with God, he defended his Catholic faith from Mormonism. He took on a leadership role at the Catholic Newman Center, where he fell in love with his call to the priesthood.

Deacon Paul entered priesthood formation in the fall of 2017 at St. John’s Seminary in California and graduated in December of 2023. He graduated with a Master of Arts in theology, passing with highest honors. His Master’s defense is on YouTube, titled “The Immaculate Conception According to St. John Henry Newman.” Deacon Paul also received a Master of Divinity and a pre-theology certificate.
