You Can Eat that Easter Roast a Day Early

Question:

Can we eat meat the Saturday before Easter?

Answer:

The Church requires abstinence from meat only on Fridays of Lent. For the purposes of fasting and abstinence, a day is counted from midnight to midnight (Code of Canon Law 202 §1). Anything beyond that is a matter of personal spirituality or devotion and would be regulated by personal conscience.
