Question:
Answer:
This perfect life with the Most Holy Trinity – this communion of life and love with the Trinity, with the Virgin Mary, the angels and all the blessed – is called “heaven.” Heaven is the ultimate end and fulfillment of the deepest human longings, the state of supreme, definitive happiness. (Catechism, 1024)
Certainly all good desires will be fulfilled in heaven, but all evil desire must first be purged from our hearts. The ultimate human desires for love, peace, community, etc. will all be fulfilled in heaven.
Sin is often a spiritually stunted or misguided attempt to fill the desires of our soul. Because of this, sin never truly satisfies these desires. They can only be truly fulfilled with God and if we purge sin from our hearts and souls we find that true and lasting peace and love that this world cannot give.
