Question:
Why does God care about us? As the Almighty, wouldn’t he simply not care for His creation?
Answer:
When I see your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and stars that you set in place—
What is man that you are mindful of him,
and a son of man that you care for him? (Psalm 8:4-5)
It does seem strange that God would care about mortal human beings, and yet he does. The answer to why is not very complicated. God is love (1 John 4:8). Love is a free gift of one’s self. God does not love us because he has to or because we deserve it. God loves us because he freely chooses to love us.
