Question:
Are priests allowed to lock church doors after Mass has begun to keep out latecomers?
Answer:
The Church doesn’t have an official stance on such things. Although I can sympathize with a priest’s annoyance with latecomers, this solution does seem a bit draconian. Such an action actively impedes someone from Mass who was late for a legitimate reason (traffic, health, etc). Surely that is too much of a negative to outweigh any positive effect.
While there is technically no rule against it, my guess is if the bishop were made aware of the situation he would tell the priest to stop doing this.
