Question:
If a person is a catechumen going through RCIA and passes away before receiving the sacrament of baptism, is he saved?
Answer:
A catechumen who dies prior to water baptism is considered to have received the baptism of desire at the moment of their death.
For catechumens who die before their baptism, their explicit desire to receive it, together with repentance for their sins, and charity, assures them the salvation that they were not able to receive through the sacrament (Catechism, 1259).
