Question:
What is the name of the Roman centurion who asked Jesus for his help because his boy servant was ill?
Answer:
The centurion whose servant was healed in Matthew 8 and Luke 7 is unnamed in both Gospels, and pious tradition did not assign him a name.
Some have attempted to link this centurion to the one at the foot of the cross (Matt. 27:54, Mark 15:39, Luke 23:47). However, there does not appear to be any internal evidence from the Gospels that is the case, nor does there appear to be any connection to the centurion Cornelius in Acts 10.
