Question:
Do holy orders and the sacraments of initiation require the consent of the recipient for validity?
Answer:
All sacraments require that the recipient not be opposed to the reception of the sacrament. No one can receive a sacrament against his or her will.
In order for a sacrament to be invalid due to lack of consent, the individual receiving it would have to truly repudiate its reception in his mind, heart, and will. Someone who reluctantly goes along with a sacrament still acquiesces to its reception.
