Yes, provided that a prayer is a faithful one and the person praying is disposed to whatever answer they may receive, realizing that God answers in edifying ways that don’t always accord with our desires (see Rom. 8:28).

Given these disclaimers, a novena can be a simple one based on our own informal and faithful prayer, or more formal based on an ecclesiastically approved novena. The latter can include an accurate presentation of the “Surrender to the Will of God” novena.
