Is There a List of All Sins?

Question:

Is there a detailed list of all mortal and venial sins?

Answer:

No, there is not a detailed list of sins.

In the Old Testament, the Ten Commandments are considered the basic categories of sins. In the New Testament, Jesus teaches us that all sin is a result of a failure to love either God or neighbor as we should. St. Thomas Aquinas divided sin into seven categories (pride, greed, gluttony, lust, sloth, envy, and anger).

It would be difficult to compile an list of actual sins, since the number of possible human choices and situations is nearly infinite. New technologies and situations never before encountered constantly arise and therefore would be missing from any previously issued list.
