Is the Nicene Creed Required at Sunday Mass?

Question:

Is the Nicene Creed a liturgical requirement for Sunday Mass?

Answer:

The Profession of Faith (the Creed) should normally be said or sung at Sunday Masses (GIRM 68). The Roman Missal permits the option of using the Apostles’ Creed instead of the Nicene Creed.

On Easter the renewal of baptismal promises replaces the Creed. And at Sunday Masses where baptism or confirmation take place the baptismal promises can replace the Creed.
