If Adam and Eve Did Not Know Good and Evil How Can They Be Guilty?

Question:

If Adam and Eve did not know good or bad, right or wrong before eating the forbidden fruit why they found guilty?

Answer:

Adam and Eve were guilty because they disobeyed God. They knew that God warned them not to eat the fruit of that particular tree. They chose not to trust God. They knew what God had said and understood He did not want them to eat from that tree and they did so anyways. They chose to believe the snake over God.

It could perhaps be argued that they did not understand the consequences, but that is a poor measure of an action. Obeying out of fear is a lesser good than obeying out of loving trust. Adam and Eve might not have had the fear of consequences but that should not really matter since they should have loved and trusted God more than a passing snake.
