How Could Angels Sin?

Question:

How did one third of the angels fall from heaven if you can't sin in heaven?

Answer:

Scripture speaks of a sin of these angels. This “fall” consists in the free choice of these created spirits, who radically and irrevocably rejected God and his reign. . . (Catechism, 392)

We do not know the details of God’s testing of the angels.  We only know that at their creation the angels were given a free choice to serve God and some chose not to serve God.
