Forgotten Private Vow

Question:

If I don’t remember whether I promised God I would pray a certain prayer, or just made it a goal, do I need to pray the prayer?

Answer:

If you made a private vow to God then you can ask your pastor to dispense you from the private vow (canon 1196,1).

On your own, you can also commute your private vow into a charitable work of equal or greater good than the private vow you made (canon 1197).

Your pastor can also commute your private vow into any charitable work even if it is of lesser good (canon 1197).
