Does Islam Accept Mary’s Assumption?

The religion of Islam holds Mary in great esteem. Muslims believe her to be a virgin mother, the most righteous woman to ever live (though not sinless), and a few traditions even view her as a prophet. While some Islamic thinkers have accepted the Assumption of Mary, it is a very small minority, and it not generally accepted. The Assumption of Mary is not part of the Koran or any ancient Islamic writing.
