Question:
If I pawn a blessed wedding band, pay it off, and get it back, is it still blessed?
Answer:
The Code of Canon Law:
Sacred objects, which are designated for divine worship by dedication or blessing, are to be treated reverently and are not to be employed for profane or inappropriate use even if they are owned by private persons (can. 1171).
It would appear, in my opinion, that a blessed object would lose its blessing if it is used for a secular (i.e., profane) use. The pawning of a blessed ring of matrimony for even the temporary use of money would be to use the blessed ring for a secular purpose, and therefore the ring would need to be blessed again.
