Question:
Answer:
Do you not know that the holy ones will judge the world? If the world is to be judged by you, are you unqualified for the lowest law courts? Do you not know that we will judge angels? Then why not everyday matters? (1 Cor. 6:2-3)
The part about judging angels has usually been understood to mean that at the Last Judgment the righteous will play a role in the judgment of the fallen angels.
The overall passage, however, is addressing the fact that the Christians of Corinth were suing each other in the pagan courts. Paul thought it was ridiculous that the Christian community could not solve disputes among themselves. Paul points out that those who inherit the kingdom are to play a role in the judgment of the world (Dan. 7:27) and therefore should be able to judge among themselves and solve basic disputes.
None of this has anything to do with judging the state of another’s soul in the here and now. At the Last Judgment all will be brought into the light and all will be known, until that day we can only judge the objective actions of another person and not their moral culpability.
