Question:
Is it OK to believe in feng shui?
Answer:
It depends on what you mean by “believe.”
If you mean believing in invisible spiritual forces whose flow is channeled via feng shui, then, no, Catholic should not believe that. Catholics must place their trust in God and center their spirituality around prayer.
If you mean believing that design and architecture have some effect on the human psyche then, yes. Catholics may believe that. After all, that is one of the inspirations for building grand cathedrals, the signs of our sacraments, and the aesthetics of our liturgies. The impact of our environment upon our senses is part of our human nature. However, these are not ends unto themselves, and they should be used to point to a greater reality.
