Baptizing a Child With Only One Catholic Parent

Question:

What are the requirements of baptizing an infant with only one Catholic parent?

Answer:

All that is required for Catholic baptism is that there is a “a founded hope that the infant will be brought up in the Catholic religion” (canon 868 §1, 2). If the Catholic parent promises to do all that he or she can to raise the child Catholic then that would fulfill the canonical requirement.
