Question:
Where does an unbaptized Christian stand in the RCIA process?
Answer:
An unbaptized person is a catechumen (“one being instructed”). Catechumens are educated in the Faith and the sacraments before receiving the sacraments of initiation. Depending on the parish and diocese, the process can take several weeks to several months and usually culminates in receiving the sacraments of initiation at the Easter Vigil.
