Dr. Anders was raised in the Presbyterian Church and studied theology at the Weaton College and Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. After seminary, he earned a Ph.D. in the History of Religious Thought at the University of Iowa, specializing in the Protestant Reformation. He has been speaking professionally for over ten years at parishes, conferences, debates, and fundraisers all over the United States and internationally. How a Protestant Historian Joined the Catholic Church

After growing up in evangelical Protestantism, I became Catholic at the age of 32. I explain how 10 years of full-time theological and historical study led me to the Catholic Church.

Why was there a Reformation?

Most people (Catholic and Protestant) are ignorant of the true causes of the Reformation. They wrongly assume that the Reformation was simply a response to corruption. After earning a doctoral degree in Reformation history, I learned a more accurate perspective. In fact, the Reformation was a far more complex event. Understanding the real roots of the Reformation helps Catholics avoid simplistic caricatures and to appreciate what is genuinely enduring in the Catholic faith.
