Question:
If the Church considers the Gospels historical, why are there some scholars who try to make the case that we can't really know the historical Christ from the Gospels?
Answer:
A fundamental reason why many scholars take issue with the historicity of the gospels is because of their disbelief in the miraculous in general and the related divinity of Jesus Christ in particular, which the gospels assert as historically true.
