What Does “Walking with God” Mean?

Question:

Adam, walk with God—what does this mean?

Answer:

Actually, the Bible never says Adam walked with God. After the fall, Scripture says Adam and Eve heard the sound of the Lord walking in the garden, and that they hid, fearful to face to God because they had sinned (Gen. 3:8).

Scripture does speak of Enoch (Gen. 5:22, 24) and Noah (Gen. 6:9) walking with God. This is a metaphorical reference to their walking with God faithfully.
