Question:
Is there a morally licit means of becoming pregnant by using frozen sperm?
Answer:
Since the only morally licit means of achieving pregnancy is through the conjugal relations of a man and a woman, there does not appear to be any morally licit means of becoming pregnant from frozen sperm. In fact, depending on how the sperm was collected for freezing, the very collection of the sperm may have been an occasion of sin. For more information on issues of reproductive health and medical bioethics, I recommend contacting the National Catholic Bioethics Center.
