Then, according to Old Covenant law, Mary had to wait an additional 33 days before her purification and presentation of her Son in the Temple (Lev. 12:1-7; Luke 2:22-24).

Sometime thereafter the flight to Egypt took place. Because infants under two years old were slaughtered by King Herod in his attempt to kill the Christ Child, it’s possible that Jesus could have been between the ages of one and two at the time of the Epiphany, i.e., when the magi or wise men paid homage to him (see Matt. 2:12-18).
