Question:
Do Catholics have another word for "rapture"?
Answer:
The rapture is not an authentic Christian belief, in terms of a pre-Second-Coming event that is popular among many Protestants, so you won’t see its formal treatment in the Catechism of the Catholic Church. However, as a synonym for what happens to those faithful who are alive at Christ’s Second Coming, it has admissible doctrinal application .
For more on the rapture, please see this Catholic Answers tract and this one as well from Catholics United for the Faith (CUF).
