Question:
Why do Catholics tend to believe that LGBTQ+ relationships are inherently sexual?
Answer:
The Church doesn’t presume on the specific goings-on in various friendships and relationships. However, as part of her God-given mission, the Church does provide moral guidelines so that people can enjoy the truth of Jesus Christ that authentically sets us free (see John 8:31-32),
For more information on the Church’s teaching on sexuality and chastity in general, see the Catechism of the Catholic Church 2331ff. Regarding same-sex relationships in particular, see CCC 2357-59, and also our tract and various other related Catholic Answers resources.
Regarding “transgenderism” and those who suffer from gender-identity disorder, please see this article from our magazine and this other Catholic Answers overview on the matter.
