Question:
Is the Blessed Virgin Mary a prophet?
Answer:
Sometimes the term prophet is used to mean one who predicts the future on behalf of God, e.g., expressing that something bad will befall a people if they don’t repent. In a more fundamental sense, though, a prophet is one is who speaks God’s truth. In that sense, the Blessed Mother was certainly a prophet, including when she uttered her famous words at the wedding of Cana, “Do whatever he tells you” (John 2:5). And she continues to give glorious witness to her divine Son as the queen of heaven and earth.
