Should We Ignore the Old Testament?

Question:

If Jesus was the Lamb of the new and everlasting covenant between God and man, should we only follow the New Testament?

Answer:

The New Testament is the fulfillment of the Old, so for us Christians there is no dichotomy between the Old and New Testaments. When Christ himself, the Lamb of God, speaks of the scriptures he is referring to the Old Testament. In his appearance to the disciples at Emmaus, the evangelist tells us that Jesus explained everything that was written about him in the books of Moses and in the Psalms and in the Prophets. So it is impossible to follow the New Testament without following the Old Testament as well.
