Question:
I am an active senior in my parish and in a relationship with a man older than eighty and have no plans to marry. Must I forgo Communion forever?
Answer:
You will forgo heaven forever if you are committing mortal sin with him now. If you have no plans to marry him, then you are obliged to live as a devout, celibate follower of Christ. Life is short. Heaven is forever. Besides, our blessed Lord denied himself for us to the point of dying. Does not such sacrificial love deserve something from us?
