Questioning Optional Readings

Question:

Is it okay to question whether the optional readings at Mass should be optional?

Answer:

Yes, it is perfectly fine to have a personal opinion on whether or not readings at Mass should be optional. But if you are a lector at Mass, you should read the readings you are assigned. That would not be an appropriate time to be expressing a personal opinion on whether or not the readings should be optional.
