Question:
In Mass, can the priest have a brother and layman take consecrated hosts at the altar and give themselves Communion?
Answer:
No. If the layman or religious brother is presiding at a Communion service in the absence of a priest, then he may communicate himself, but if it is at Holy Mass with the priest, then he must receive Holy Communion from the priest, or from a deacon ministering with the priest, or from another extraordinary minister of Holy Communion if for some reason he was unable to receive from the priest or deacon.
