Keep It Down in Church

Question:

Is it OK to talk in church?

Answer:

The Church has no norm prohibiting talking among the faithful in the congregation. However, out of respect for the sacred liturgy and one’s brothers and sisters in Christ gathered for Mass, talking should be kept to a minimum and at whisper level. In addition, talking during the liturgy of the Eucharist, especially the consecration, should not take place unless absolutely necessary, e.g., the disciplining of one’s children.
