If Jesus Founded One Church, Why So Many Denominations?

Question:

If God has revealed himself to us with one true church, why do religions branch off all the time?

Answer:

In short, because people have free will and fallen natures, and also because Church leaders haven’t always been the faithful witnesses Jesus Christ calls them to be. Thus, in summary, because of less-than-faithful actions of those within and outside of the Church.

Regarding whether Jesus founded one Church, i.e., the Catholic Church, please see our article on “Pentecost and the Papacy,” and also our tract on “Pillar of Fire, Pillar of Truth.”
