Question:
Is it appropriate for a Catholic to financially support Wycliffe Bible translations?
Answer:
There’s no point for Catholics to financially support the production and distribution of Protestant Bibles, because these translations have not been approved by the Church. They typically come with footnotes and other commentary that undermine Church teaching.
If you would like to support the production and distribution of the Bible, a noble endeavor to be sure, consider a gift to Ignatius Press, which is working on an annotated version of the Revised Standard Bible, Catholic Edition.
