Do Not Lead Others Into Temptation

Question:

Is it wrong to put others in temptation or not remove temptation for other when possible?

Answer:

We should never be an occasion of sin for others, i.e., lead them into temptation. St. Paul makes this clear when he says, “Then let us no more pass judgment on one another, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother” (Romans 14:13; see Rom. 14:23-23; 1 Cor. 8:9; see CCC 1789).

In addition, you have control over your own actions as they relate to others. To that extent, you should strive to remove obstacles from those with whom you interact, and to the extent they are receptive. But don’t let this become a preoccupation. You can’t live others’ lives for them, as much as we desire their good.
