Question:
How do you do a Bible study with Protestants?
Answer:
Katherine Andes wrote a helpful article, Bible Study Bridges, on Catholics in Protestant Bible studies in This Rock, the predecessor of Catholic Answers Magazine. Nonetheless, it is not generally a good idea for Catholics to take part in Bible studies conducted by Protestants. Not only will significant differences in theology arise during the discussions, the group will almost certainly use a Protestant translation of Scripture as its “standard text.” If you want to take part in a Bible study, I recommend asking your pastor for assistance in organizing a Catholic Bible study in your parish.
