Question:
My mom recently passed. We found out that she passed on the anniversary of her baptism. How common do you think that is? Does it have any significance?
Answer:
I think it would be hard to determine how common this is, but it certainly is a beautiful concurrence! To be reborn in baptism by the death of Christ when one is newly born and to die in Christ in the hope of the new life of the resurrection on the same day is an almost liturgical harmony. What God gave you here is a consolation at your mother’s death and a reminder of how much you should love the holy sacraments that bring us to eternal life.
