
Michael Vasquez is the co-founder, with his wife Rose Marie, of St. Gregory Centers, Inc., which has been called “the most advanced substance abuse program in America.” In 1990, Mr. Vasquez founded one of the first fully implemented electronic medical record systems in America. In 1997, he founded the first real-time processing capability for hospitals directly into Medicare, which eliminated the chance for abuse.
In 1994, Entrepreneur magazine named Mr. Vasquez an “American Success Story,” and the next year the US Chamber of Commerce named him the national Blue Chip Enterprise Recipient. In 2000, he was named Ernst & Young’s “Entrepreneur of the Year” and inducted into the Entrepreneur of the Year “Hall of Fame”; again in 2012 he was a finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for his work at St Gregory Centers. In 2015 Mr. Vasquez received the Drake University Alumni Achievement Award.He is also a member of the US Air Force Academy Letterman’s Club.
Mr. Vasquez is a fourth degree Knight of Columbus, a member of the Knights of the Holy Sepulchre, a founding member of the Des Moines chapter of Legatus, a founding board member of St. Gabriel Communications, Iowa Catholic Radio, and served for ten years on the finance council and as a trustee of St. Anthony Parish.
He received his executive health management certificate from the Harvard School of Public Health and attended the US Air Force Academy and Drake University. He and Rose Marie have three adult sons.
