Matthew Hanley, M.P.H., was an HIV/AIDS technical advisor for Catholic Relief Services, the international relief and development agency of the Catholic Church in the US, from 2001 to 2008, and is specialized in HIV prevention. He is the author, with Jokin de Irala, of Affirming Love, Avoiding AIDS: What Africa Can Teach the West, recently published by the National Catholic Bioethics Center. He is also a regular contributor to The Catholic Thing: www.thecatholicthing.org.
