Mark Giszczak

Contributor

Since joining the Augustine Institute faculty in 2010, Dr. Mark Giszczak has been teaching courses on biblical topics in both Old and New Testament. His research focuses on the Wisdom Literature of the Old Testament and the development of a Catholic biblical hermeneutic that incorporates both the Tradition and modern biblical scholarship. His dissertation, Character and Metaphor as Hermeneutical Problems in the Song of Songs, explores some of the toughest interpretive difficulties in the Old Testament. He has a passion for Scripture and the recovery of it as a source of spiritual sustenance for Catholics. His aim is to help Catholics understand and appreciate the great gift of the Word of God so as to read, study, and pray it regularly. Dr. Giszczak enjoys giving talks on a variety of biblical and theological topics (e.g., Praying with the Bible; Friendship) and he has participated in many evangelization projects. He has written introductions to every book of the Bible, which are hosted at CatholicNewsAgency.com. He writes regularly for CatholicExchange.com and on his own blog, CatholicBibleStudent.com. Dr. Giszczak, his wife and their daughter, enjoy camping and hiking in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado.
