
María Ruiz Scaperlanda was born in Cuba and grew up in Puerto Rico. She immigrated to the United States at age thirteen. Her latest book, The Journey: A Guide for the Modern Pilgrim (Loyola Press, 2004), is co-authored with her husband, Michael. She is also author of The Seekers Guide to Mary (Loyola Press, 2002) and Edith Stein: St. Teresa Benedicta of the Cross (Our Sunday Visitor, 2001). She is a regular columnist for Catholic Parent and Catholic Digest. She writes from Norman, Oklahoma.
