David Bates grew up in England, where he earned a BSc in Computer Science from Southampton University. After getting a little bored of his country’s incessant rain, he left England and moved to southern California where he works as a software engineer. He is a parishioner of Holy Angels Byzantine Catholic Church and has been a long-time, active member of the Catholic community in San Diego.
David runs the website RestlessPilgrim.net and travels around the country giving talks on Scripture, Church History, Evangelization and Apologetics. Recordings of many of these talks can be found on the podcast Theology With An English Accent. David also co-hosts the weekly podcast Pints With Jack, discussing the works of C.S. Lewis, the Christian apologist and author of The Chronicles of Narnia.
During the 2020 COVID pandemic, David proposed to and married Marie, former assistant producer at Catholic Answers. He now lives in La Crosse, WI with Marie and their son.
