Dave Haffner is IT infrastructure manager for the apostolate. He joined the team in July 2022 and is responsible for managing the design, deployment, upgrade, monitoring, and security of the Catholic Answers network and server infrastructure. He also works across the various departments providing hardware and software support and negotiating and administering vendor and consultant contracts and service agreements.
Prior to coming to Catholic Answers, Dave spent a number of years in IT security in the corporate world. He also held various roles as a parish youth director, a teacher of English as a second language (ESL) in Venezuela, and a manager of movie theatres and bank branches.
A United States Marine Corps veteran from a large family—including more than 50 nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and their spouses—Dave is a graduate of Xavier University in his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio. He is a cradle Catholic and notes particular devotions to the Blessed Mother, St. Therese of Lisieux, St. Francis of Assisi, and King David, who he says have all provided wonderful examples and insights into how to live for God and follow him on a daily basis.
In his free time, Dave loves to laugh (primarily at himself, he says!) and enjoys woodworking, cycling, bird watching, and nature photography. He is an active member of the Knights of Columbus and has volunteered with young people throughout his adult life, including work with the Children’s International Summer Village (CISV) where he met people from around the world and visited Norway and Brazil.
