Chris Costello is director of information technology for Catholic Answers. He and his four-person team implement and manage the apostolate’s technology-related applications in such areas as online security, finance, e-commerce, and development and its computer hardware, network, and telecom infrastructure. His team also develops and manages the catholic.com website and the Catholic Answers Live! mobile app.
Chris joined Catholic Answers in April 2018 after an extensive private-sector career touching on multiple facets of the IT field. Immediately prior to CA, he had served as director of software engineering for CoreLogic in San Diego, providing leadership and oversight of a round-the-clock data analytics and processing environment serving the mortgage industry’s largest lenders.
During his career, Chris has held technology leadership positions at LPL Financial and Nicholas Applegate Capital Management (now Allianz Global Investors) and served as enterprise architecture and software development consultant for several firms of varying size. For six years, he also ran an independent technology consulting practice partnering with software vendors such as Microsoft, Tibco, and Talend. A graduate of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), Chris holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering.
Having grown up in Chula Vista, Calif., Chris has been married to his wife, Sharon, since 1997, and the couple has two grown children. A cradle Catholic with devotions to St. Teresa of Avila, St. Faustina and Divine Mercy, Chris is active at St. James Parish in Solana Beach, Calif., where he taught catechism for 11 years and has served as a member of the Knights of Columbus.
An all-around sports fan, Chris particularly enjoys golf and running and previously coached soccer for 10 years, serving on the Solana Beach Soccer Board.
