Hugh Hefner is the Devil
These words were reportedly scrawled on the wall by Playboy Playmate Paige Young in 1974 just before she took her own life with a .38 caliber pistol. According to the A&E miniseries Secrets of Playboy, Ms. Young was sexually abused at the Playboy Mansion by Hugh Hefner, Bill Cosby, and dozens of other Hollywood elite.
The series is thirteen episodes long. Thirteen long and grueling episodes. I could only watch one or two at a time because they made my stomach turn. I have a wife, daughter, mom, and sister. If this had happened to one of them, I would have quit whatever I was doing and spent the rest of my days on this planet seeking justice for them.
I must be a glutton for punishment. Just a few weeks earlier, I watched another series about Jared Fogle, the guy who landed a big sponsorship gig with Subway because he lost a million pounds eating their sandwiches exclusively. There are mountains of audio recordings of him admitting to his sexual depravity, and during all this, he explains that he prefers children from broken families.
I thought of those disturbing recordings while I watched the series on Hefner and the Playboy organization. In the first few episodes, some background is given on the female victims. Most of them were from broken families.
We parents need to be vigilant. These days it seems like the world is out to get our children. We need to do everything we can to foster healthy families, and to be on our knees as often as possible praying for grace from God to pull this off.
Hugh Hefner passed away at the age of 91 in 2017. I remember the day because I was dismayed at the number of positive posts in my social feeds proclaiming him a man of progress and sexual liberation. Perhaps there are many who simply don’t understand the kind of man that he was. If you are one of those people, I recommend you watch the Secrets of Playboy series to correct this falsehood. If you already know he was a disgusting human being, don’t bother watching. Just know that he was way worse than you thought.
