Arrighetti, NICOLO, a professor of natural philosophy at Spoleto, Prato, and Sienna, b. at Florence, March 17, 1709; d. January 31, 1767. He entered the Society of Jesus, October 31, 1724. He has left treatises on the theory of light, heat, and electricity, and also on the causes of the movement of mercury in the barometer. We have also from him a discourse known as “Il Baron di Van-Esden; ovvero la Republica degli Increduli da P. Michel Angelo Marini dell’ Ordine de’ Minimi, dall’ Idioma Franzese tradotta.”
