The Eucharist in Scripture

Questions Covered:

  • 12:09 - When you look in the Old Testament, God is very clear about not eating human flesh. I don’t believe in the Eucharist because God wouldn’t ask us to eat his flesh. Isn’t that right?
  • 17:10 - You said that we take Jesus’ words literally, “This is my Body, this is my Blood.” Why does the Church tell us that we do not need to receive both species?
  • 20:47 - How do you explain to a non-Catholic why apostolic succession and the priesthood are required to have a valid, real Eucharist?
  • 29:17 - Can you explain the fourth cup? Was the cup the one offered to Christ during his Crucifixion?
  • 33:20 - Do you this disbelief in the Eucharist goes deeper than poor and incomplete catechesis? Isn’t it also connected to the changes in liturgy?
  • 36:34 - Why isn’t the Eucharist mentioned in the Apostles or Nicene Creeds?
  • 40:58 - Do you think that Vatican II made a mistake in allowing people to receive Communion in the hand?
  • 46:33 - Is what Jesus gave the apostles at the Last Supper the same Eucharist that we receive now? Is it different because now he is the Risen Christ?
  • 49:21 - I don’t understand why Catholics believe that they are worshipping Jesus in Adoration. It is a piece of bread since no consecration is happening.
  • 52:51 - When we say, “Lord, I am not worthy to receive you, but only say the Word and my soul shall be healed,” what are we saying? What is the “word”?
